Casting Cares Away

We live in a world that constantly feeds us reasons to be afraid — bills piling up, health concerns, uncertainty about the future. The cares of this world can feel like heavy chains around our necks. But here’s the truth: fear is not your master, and you were never meant to live under its control. We all face moments when the cares of this world seem too heavy. There’s the fear of loss, of the unknown, of failure, or of not doing enough. These fears can steal our peace and keep us from living fully.
One of our biggest hindrances to living in peace is caring too much—about the wrong things.
1 Peter 5:7 … casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. (NKJ)
Amplified … casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].
If you cast something away, that means YOU no longer have it. Who does then? The One you gave it to!
When you care little about something, it doesn’t have control over your every thought. You can take it or leave it; it really doesn’t matter that much. What is your “it?” What is something you have a hard time letting go of?
We plant the Word of God in our hearts to give us the faith to receive the victory over this world.
Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. (NKJ)
1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world— even our faith. (NKJ)
The enemy knows that your faith to defeat him comes from the Word so he does everything he can to get you distracted.
Matthew 13:22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. (NKJ)
Luke 21:33-34 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. 34 But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. (NKJ)
The cares of this world will always try to crowd your heart, but you have a choice: let fear dictate your steps, or let faith and peace lead you forward.
Matthew 6:33-34a But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about…
Fear grows when we fix our eyes on problems instead of promises. The more we rehearse “what ifs,” the more we empower anxiety. Fear does not come from God.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (NKJ)
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (NKJ)
Amplified There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown) love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment, so the one who is afraid [of God’s judgment] is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of God’s love].
Shift your focus: instead of magnifying the problem, magnify the One who holds the solution. Fear can’t stay where peace lives! Peace is not the absence of problems; it’s the presence of trust.
Here’s the truth: You don’t have to control every circumstance to be free from fear. You only need to trust that God is in control and that He will meet your needs — in His perfect timing and way. When you place your trust in Him, you release the need to hold onto every outcome, and you step into the freedom of His care.
Choose to release what you can’t control, focus on what you can, and trust that you are equipped by the Word for whatever comes next. Fear may visit, but it doesn’t get to move in.
Psalm 91:1-3 He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. 3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. (KJV)
The cares of this world may still come, but they cannot control you if you are rooted in God’s love. Today, I invite you to cast your fears at His feet and walk in the freedom of His care. You are never alone — and that is enough to set you free from fear.
